About Us

Rachel Niddrie Design provides a personal decorative and spatial interior design service based near Winchester. Rachel has over 18 years design experience and has worked with some of the world's most prestigious interior designers and developers throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East on private homes, property developments, hotels and executive offices.

She studied at Chelsea College of Art and Design and began her interior design career working for renowned interior designer Lady Victoria Waymouth, whose Chelsea design studio was considered pioneering with its English design roots and eclectic mix of combining styles from around the world. Rachel was involved with designing suites for Claridge's Hotel, a chateau in Switzerland and substantial residential properties throughout London, Europe and Kuwait.

In 2004 Rachel partnered with the specialist decorator Carolyn Benson to set up her first interior design studio, 'Benson Studios Ltd'. They worked on numerous residential projects; the overall look was elegant, shabby chic with antiques and modernist pieces, bespoke and specialist finishes. Using simple cloths of cotton and linen with highlights of embroidery and printed patterns, they specialised in upholstered and hand-painted walls.

Rachel later worked for Intarya, the interior design arm of the high-end, London-based property developers Northacre designing the homes for their developments and private clients in luxury apartments at the Lancasters Hyde Park, townhouses and a Grade II-listed country property.

Today, Rachel has developed this invaluable background into her eponymous company. She leads and co-participates on interior design and decoration projects for private clients as well as property developers, architects and award-winning interior designers.

How would you describe your style?

"I take influences from around the world, often combining traditional and contemporary elements such as antique and mid-century pieces, and modern lighting with artisanal fabrics and wallpapers - all of which bring a simple elegance, warmth and individualism to each of my designs."

Please describe a recently completed project or tell us about the bespoke service that you offer

"Recent projects include a country house in Hampshire where the basement was completely renovated into a games room with a bespoke bar in walnut within a red and teal scheme with velvet curtains.  Adjoining this is the TV snug area with bronze-painted walls and bespoke joinery throughout against linen-covered sofa and curtains.  Bedrooms and bathrooms were also re-designed and decorated using beautifully printed wallpapers from Pierre Frey, Gailbraith & Paul and St Judes Fabrics."
