About Us

Founded in 1980 the business has grown into a talented and dedicated team of problem-solvers, plate-spinners and hard-grafters. Every member of the team shares a collective pride in the work that they do and is passionate about delivering spaces that exceed all expectations. The company offers a holistic service across the landscaping spectrum. The team has built a reputation in the Southwest and South of England as a company that enjoys finding solutions to the challenges that a build brings. The Johnstone Landscapes portfolio of work is underpinned by a genuine passion for natural, beautiful and sensitively made spaces. For nearly 40 years the team have built gardens and spaces that bring designers’ and clients’ visions to life. Johnstone Landscapes is driven by detail – be it in the planting, structural elements or the materials they use.

How would you describe your style?

"Our commitment to sustainability runs deep. Rooted within our philosophy is a sense that we are restorative in our work. We work hard to find new and more environmentally positive methods to deliver projects. For us, and our clients, it’s all about leaving a positive legacy; creating spaces that enable nature to thrive.

It’s within our culture to collaborate, develop and seek the latest technology and ideas. When coupled together with traditional methods, years of landscaping experience and a deeply entrenched passion for the natural world, we can create outdoor environments that are a force for good. Our personal style will always lean towards our commitment to build wildly beautiful gardens."

"This Grade II listed property and surrounding network of waterways and waterfalls provide an intrinsic sense of peace around this beautifully restored walled garden not far from the Roman Fosse Way that slices through the Cotswolds. Lavenders and Alliums are in abundance along the many walkways. The garden is reminiscent of Provence with the use of crushed local Cotswold stone on the pathways. The garden spills out from the walled garden to shaded areas in summer that are filled with ferns and woodland planting. The waterfalls provide a shift in the dynamic and take the garden from serene to the intense woodland. Weeping willow hold firm in the banks and vistas have been opened up to view the house from many areas of the garden. Hall marks of Todd Longstaffe-Gowan’s designs such as Achillea ‘Credo’ and Echinacea ‘pallida’ provide a chalky, ice-cream pallet as Spring turns to Summer."
