‘James Bond – Alpine – Circa 1970s’ was a recent, and unusual, client brief. Excited and with design ideas bubbling, we rose to the challenge to refurbish a barn conversion from top to bottom working closely alongside the client, architect and builder. After finding out how the client used their home, we felt opening up the ground floor to create a family kitchen was the cornerstone of this project. It combined the practicalities of a young family with the space and light they craved. We designed a bespoke kitchen with beautiful white-washed burr oak units featuring a curved bench seat with a copper table, copper pendant light and ‘James Bond’ style bar. The adjoining playroom has a cork floor and wall to enhance the ‘70s’ vibe. The master bathroom has a white stone mosaic floor leading through to the master bedroom with a timber clad wall and luxurious thick white wool carpet for that ‘Alpine’ feeling. Our ‘James Bond’ moment was opening up the hallway fully and then installing a bespoke glass wall with stunning circular etched glass doors with leather handles creating a hidden, light filled study. Our clients were brave with colour and design, so we were able to deliver the most extraordinary house inside whilst remaining faithful to the exterior of the barn and its wonderful surroundings.
