"The complete renovation of a Grade II listed first floor, one-bedroom lateral apartment in Cadogan Square developed in conjunction with Equilibrium London. This tired, ex-rental property purchased from the Cadogan Estate enjoyed a grand scale, and some original architectural detailing, but lacked the mechanics, flow, finishes and style needed to bring this apartment to life. We had to develop a treatment that lifted all elements sympathetically to the highest levels of modern luxury, functionality and aesthetics. To create a sense of grandeur, existing ceilings and doorways were raised wherever possible, and a series of tall arches were introduced to the main hallway. Exotic marbles were installed into the bathroom and kitchen, balancing these classic, dramatic finishes with sleek, modern fixtures, fittings and sumptuous joinery elements. Architectural detailing was added in the form of dentil cornicing, panelling and ceiling roses to emphasise the grand proportions of the apartment and break up the vast wall spaces. Air conditioning was subtly introduced and seamlessly integrated, with all lighting, power and AV upgraded alongside with heating and hot water systems. A combination of colours and finishes brought texture and depth throughout the apartment with Marmarino plaster finishes, silk wallpapers, oak herringbone and mosaic flooring, wood veneers and bold paint colours bringing the space to life. Working closely with a variety of artisans, a number of bespoke items were designed, from lights and chandeliers to furniture pieces, soft furnishings, objets, and fitted joinery, which all worked to allow the grand spaces to feel connected and intimate with an underlying sense of tranquillity."
