Creating a new culture of light to enrich people's quality of life - that is what inspires and drives the minds behind the Occhio brand every day. With its holistic philosophy, paired with international award-winning design, outstanding lighting quality and the unique 'joy of use', Occhio has created a new standard.
The visionary success story began in 1999 with a revolutionary idea from designer and company founder Axel Meise: A holistic lighting system that offers the perfect lighting solution for every room and every situation, in a consistent design and with the highest possible quality of light and unprecedented 'joy of use'.
As a European leader, Occhio is today one of the most innovative and fastest-growing companies and has developed from a German design icon into an international brand in the luxury segment. Based in the heart of Munich, Occhio currently employs over 250 people. Sales and advice are provided by more than 400 lighting and furnishing retail partners as well as the company's own showrooms.
How would you describe your style?
"Minimalist elegance, holistic thinking and a passion for innovation – Occhio's design follows the principle of 'form follows function'. Speaking the timeless language of design, our luminaires enhance their surroundings, becoming key interior fixtures.
This is because our top priority is to bring the very highest quality of light and design into your living environment.
We are driven by our curiosity and the desire to improve our luminaires: the aesthetic appeal of the external form, the appearance and feel of the finishes, the attention to detail in the design and the ease of use. A symbiosis that makes quality an experience.

"Lüneburg Heath Country Estate History in a modern light
The grand estate, with its old trees and pond, encapsulates idyllic. In the centre of the estate stands a manor house from the early 20th century, which has been extended with a modern glass annexe and a bathhouse and guest house. Lighting masterfully combines the older part of the building with the new, as well as the main building with the outbuildings.
A single axis of light connects the new and old sections, with Occhio’s luminaires being the connecting element in the interior architecture. They accentuate the unique features of this historic building, creating small reading nooks and delicately illuminating the scenery.
A single connecting light axis
The stately home on Lüneburg Heath was carefully renovated for over two years, and a modern glass cube extension was added in the process. The steel doors, with their loft-like character, mark the transition from the old building to the new. In the spacious yet cosy fireside lounge, Sento lettura reading luminaires in matt black match match those on the wall, while Più alto adds spotlights to the new part of the building. From the comfort of a reading armchair, the luminaire can be controlled with intuitive gestures to create a personal place of retreat in this spacious room.
The perfect lighting for every corner
There are small reading nooks everywhere around the house, like calm oases of retreat and calm. When they moved in, the owners brought with them an impressive collection of books, which can now be found in the top-floor library or the bookcase in the fireside lounge. Alongside space for these books, the house needed plenty of places for reading. In the library, the light cones from the Più alto spotlights provide the perfect lighting to read by. The surface-mounted spotlights, which can be rotated and swiveled, offer unlimited possibilities in terms of how they are used and so can curate lighting for every situation.
Perfect relaxation with perfect lighting
The estate also houses a separate bathhouse, which is ideal spot for taking a little time for yourself. On the white wall opposite the glass front, the Sento verticale wall luminaires create a poetic image. Interacting with the sun, the luminaries create a unique, evolving piece of art that captures the eye. In the bathroom, the arc of light cast from the Più alto spotlights illuminate the light marble grouting and gives this place of retreat a truly one-of-a-kind feel.
A green view
The newly built glass extension brings the surrounding green landscape into the home and is another reading nook to be discovered. Here the Gioia lettura creates various lighting scenes with Occhio’s »color tune« and »up/down fading«. The stylish floor luminaire not only provides light, but also manipulates it. It can be adjusted to complement the early hours of the morning and as dusk falls, creating the perfect lighting accents at any time of day."
