About Us

Tara Craig is an interior decorator and founder of Ensemblier, a company committed to creating beautiful furniture that will last for generations. Ensemblier only uses natural materials and considers the eco-footprint of each and every product. Tara ensures that the entire supply chain meets her high standards of thoughtful manufacturing. Longevity is at the heart of Ensemblier’s ethical standpoint, and Tara and her team create pieces of worth, beauty and unparalleled quality that will stand the test of time.

Ensemblier makes customisable upholstery – the most covetable headboards and beds, sofas and chairs. Each design is handmade using sustainable components in small workshops across England that uphold traditional skills. It partners with artisanal UK-based fabric houses to produce artistically valuable upholstered products to both interior design professionals and retail customers.

Designs are rich in European influences with special reference to 18th century furniture researched through exquisitely preserved British furnishings and the extensive catalogues at the V&A. Pieces are often reworked from archive originals and other furniture movements, and based upon classical constructions, theories and proportions.

Ensemblier Interiors offers a full interior design service, whether to consult on a single piece of furniture, design an entire apartment or a whole house to decorate. Clients are often in the art world or collectors and Tara Craig works with specialist restorers around the UK to renovate antiques for her projects.

How would you describe your style?

"My style is elegant, decorative and informed both historically and ethically. My interiors are layered with textiles and upholstered pieces, art and antiques. A contemporary antiquarian."

"Ensemblier collaborates on upholstered pieces with designers who admire its aesthetic, ethos and craftsmanship. Commissions include headboards for Rita Konig, Joanna Plant, Rebecca Guinness and Pandora Taylor.

Ensemblier Interiors includes the decoration of a London apartment of an art collector (House & Garden Nov 2019) with an affinity for mid-century art and furniture as well as period pieces. The interior decoration of the apartment involved designing and updating rooms as well as recovering and custom making new pieces of furniture. The owner commissioned a bespoke headboard, followed by a replica sofa from Eltham Palace that is now part of the Ensemblier collection."
