About Us

Clare Mathewson launched Claritas Interiors in 2007 to offer high-quality interior design services to a variety of clients in the residential and corporate world. Founded on more than 30 years’ experience, with specialist upholstery and furnishings as the bedrock of her artistry, Clare is a pioneer with traditional expertise and a contemporary outlook. Her down to earth approach continues to gain her loyal clients and exciting commissions.

Clare uses her manufacturing knowledge to tailor for every individual scheme, and her team often work alongside architects on more extensive plans as well as smaller bespoke projects. Her discipline is listening to the client and remaining within their budget restraints. Clients' project requests vary from reviving an overlooked room, sprucing up a city flat, to remodelling homes and houses of every size. Claritas Interiors provides a full design service and can supply clients with handmade curtains, all types of blinds and soft furnishings, textiles, fabric walling, headboards, newly upholstered pieces, or simply breathe life back into a beloved armchair. Clare is happy to work remotely, developing concepts and exploring ideas as the possibilities of your project come to life.

How would you describe your style?

"My style is timeless, both traditional and contemporary, organising colour and space to make everyday living beautiful. For every project, the client's brief is the starting point, but houses talk and always provide the structure for the next stage of their story."

"Recent projects include re-designing a new layout for the main bedroom suite at a London members club, a total refurbishment of a Georgian Townhouse and work on a Grade II* listed country home. And a short notice and challenging request to help furnish a modern country living room, where the client realised they had no suitable furniture, or table lamps, or artwork and guests due (imminently)!  All of these opportunities took consideration and collaboration to achieve each client's intent, delivered on time and within budget."
