About Us

Harris Bugg Studio is a multi award-winning landscape design practice led by Charlotte Harris and Hugo Bugg, both Chelsea Gold medal winners, with a team of landscape architects, garden designers, and horticulturalists based between two studios in London and Devon. Projects range from large country estates to smaller private gardens, located anywhere from Cornwall to the Highlands and Exmoor to London, many with conservation and heritage sensitivities. Working in the UK and internationally, Harris Bugg's portfolio also encompasses historic restorations, botanic gardens, public gardens and gold medal-winning show gardens.

Design work combines the requirements of each client with careful consideration of the singular setting and spirit of place. A careful selection of high-quality materials and elegant, intelligent planting palettes ensures gardens are contextual, graceful and made to last. Celebrating and amplifying the spirit of the place is what makes a garden timeless, atmospheric, connected and charismatic; by ensuring each garden has many layers to peel back, both in the design and the planting, there is always something new to explore and enjoy, whatever the season.

A full-service studio highly experienced in both design and the skills that it takes to bring a project to life, Harris Bugg works closely with landscape contractors, craftspeople, specialists and nurseries to ensure that work is delivered on time, to budget and to the exacting standards clients expect. Working closely with architects and other design professionals ensures harmonious, seamless connections between indoor and outdoor spaces. Once the garden is complete, the practice continues working with clients and their gardeners in the long-term to help a space evolve beautifully.

Intuitive, enthusiastic and extremely hard-working, within a short space of time Charlotte and Hugo have demonstrated their ability to deliver work at the highest level, being labelled “pioneering design talents of their generation” by the Royal Horticultural Society.
