About Us

Stuart Charles Towner is a freelance multi award-winning garden designer and consultant based in Hampshire and working across the UK. His designs are a meeting point of the old and the new, using traditional materials with a contemporary and modern eye for the creation of spaces that sit in perfect harmony with their surroundings.

Tradition is very much at Stuart’s heart and he believes in taking inspiration from the past to inform the future, crafting and reshaping ideas and spaces anew. His projects range from small domestic roof terraces and gardens to larger unique gardens and landscapes. Following great success with previous joint ventures on show gardens and private projects with garden designers and horticulturalists, Stuart is proud to champion collaborations and what can be achieved through these processes.

Stuart has won several industry awards; Silver Gilt 2014 and Gold 2015 at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, alongside winning the coveted Best In Show for Green Seam in 2015 and most recently Silver-Gilt at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018.

Garden & Landscape Design

How would you describe your style?

"Creating individually crafted gardens, although not a style, is what drives me. It's all about creating gardens with a sense of place, driven by the client and functionality, the built environment and architecture, and a close connection to the wider landscape. "

"Since 2015 Stuart has offered a complete and comprehensive design and consultancy service creating award-winning gardens and landscapes across the UK. The process and designs vary, but one thing remains and that is working closely with clients through clear and open communication to craft gardens that work for them. This communication continues and filters down to the contractors who take the creations from paper to reality.

Not only does this close collaboration with clients drive the designs, but openness and collaboration with other disciplines, working alongside horticulturists and soil specialists right through to engineers and lighting designers. This breadth of experience enables the creation of spaces that are simple and elegant through to complex and intricate, covering courtyards, gardens and larger landscapes."
