About Us

Established in 2006, Hyde + Hyde specialises in one-off, high-end homes that navigate and connect into interesting contextual settings – be that working alongside nature in remote coastal and woodland areas, or embedding homes within historic urban sites.

As a research-led practice, they've spent many years developing their contemporary, detail-driven approach to residential design. The team takes time getting to know the sites they're working in – understanding both their unique physical opportunities and challenges, as well as what these places mean to their client. This sits at the heart of the company's bespoke experience, where clients feel listened to and truly understood. The team works hard to ensure that each of their homes results from meaningful collaboration, which when translated into built design, allows them to craft one-of-a-kind architecture that feels real and authentic.

The company's vision is to give every client a home that reflects and embraces their lived experience – evoking a deeply personal, local sub-text to each of their projects.

How would you describe your style?

"Rather than delivering a specific design aesthetic, we would describe our homes as characterised by an authentic and poetic connection with people, place and context. We use each home’s setting to inform simple, yet carefully crafted, well-functioning architecture that is filled with atmosphere. For us, our focus is to create rigour in our work - drawing inspiration from literature, philosophy, nature, and a deep understanding of our clients."

"From tables, beds, side units and door handles, for years, we have designed bespoke pieces of furniture for our clients, to echo our architectural approach.

In wanting to share these carefully considered products with a wider audience, we recently expanded our offering to Hyde Objects - an exclusive furniture and product design service, delivered in partnership with collaborators and artisans from across the world.

The concept behind Hyde Objects is to create pieces that are thoroughly considered for function, yet profoundly simple and honest in their execution. Our pieces are made from carefully-sourced, high-quality materials, and made to last. This paired-back approach ensures that craftsmanship takes centre stage, so while our objects are only made up of the components that are essential to their function, each component is executed perfectly.

Between our architecture and furniture pieces, our design philosophy is holistic and all-encompassing, with a belief that structural and aesthetic concepts do not change with scale. More importantly, sustainability is woven into the design process and underpins every piece in every aspect."
