About Us

Arthur Shaws established Shaws of Darwen on St Valentine’s Day 1897, opposite a coal mine on the Lancashire moors. Using the fireclay abandoned in the colliery’s mounds of waste, he began to produce tiles and sinks. His endeavour and ingenuity built Shaws into a business with an international reputation. Over 120 years later, Shaws of Darwen's unique, fireclay sinks are still lovingly produced in the same quiet corner of North West England and exported worldwide.
