About Us

From a background in antiques and restoration, Dominic Schuster Ltd has become the go-to name for antiqued mirror glass in the antiques trade, residential and commercial sectors, at home and abroad. The studio creates finishes that authentically replicate the natural degradation of mercury or silvered mirrors and each panel is cut to size and aged individually. Primarily using flat, drawn and colour tinted glass sometimes, bronze and gold powders are introduced to create warm tones which can be highlighted with clever lighting. Even laminated translucent antiqued panels are possible, ideal for crittal.

Coming from their roots, Verre Eglomise and gilded glass are also areas of Dominic Schuster's expertise – they only use the finest Italian leaf and work closely with  clients to create stunning pieces ranging from delicate birds and flowers to contemporary geometric designs for use on walls and tables.

The studio has also perfected a beautiful technique, fusing antiqued mirror with architectural prints, fine art photography and wallpaper to create striking decorative art installations. An image is given a new lease of life and additional depth when combined with mirrored glass, and each panel or set of panels is unique because every finish and effect is applied by hand. The finished product can be used for tableware as well as beautifully original wall panels and is always changing with daylight to artificial light.

Every project Dominic Schuster works on is bespoke and every client is treated individually. The studio is also proud to be 100% UK based, with every product and design created by the studio in Hampshire. With no overseas factories or workshops, the studio is able to keep a very close eye on the quality of their products.

How would you describe your style?

"Authentic and diverse. All of our mirror and glass finishes sit well in both contemporary and traditional settings."

Please describe a recently completed project or tell us about the bespoke service that you offer

"We have just finished a large project in New York – complex configurations in our antiqued Georgian drawn glass. This project has spanned over 3 years with a lot of sampling and design advice on how to realise their concept. It was a true labour of love and the end result is stunning."
