Through Vanderhurd Bespoke, the studio works directly with individual clients to design and realise one-of-a-kind floor coverings and textiles that dress some of the most distinguished residential and commercial spaces in all four corners of the globe. The studio prides itself on balancing innovation and heritage to produce an end product fit to adorn floors for a lifetime, whether a client has a clear vision of what they hope to achieve, a few sketches or a blank canvas. Vanderhurd Bespoke clients can create floor coverings and textiles of any colour, design, quality of construction or scale, and are able to access the studio’s vast database of archive designs, which can be reproduced, adapted or reworked, should a little extra inspiration be needed. Vanderhurd floor coverings and textiles are produced in partnership with highly skilled artisans, largely based in India and Nepal, where a small number of families pass on the ancient art of weaving and dying from one generation to the next. Each unique Vanderhurd floor covering and textile is entirely handcrafted – dyed to order, woven on handmade looms, hand embroidered, washed by hand and sun-dried before traveling by freight to London or New York for inspection.
