The brief for “The Birchwood” was to embody a ‘luxury country retreat’ within London, its name derived from the silver birch trees planted in its landscaped gardens surrounding the six bespoke residences. 'The Design Studio At Fusion' approached the project holistically, with the aim of creating a country home, yet without the usual association to ‘classic clutter’ that tends to come hand in hand. Our primary way of achieving this was to maximise the space and light within the majestic proportions of the building. We therefore proposed fitting skylights and curved dormer windows in the penthouse to further enhance this preferred ambience. When it came to specification, we opted for natural wide plank timber flooring, white panelled doors complete with black ironmongery, and half height tongue and groove panelling (painted in French Grey) within all our powder rooms and boot rooms. FF&E stage of the project was centred around combining warm textures and niche colour palettes amongst the clean lines, giving a nod to that country home feel, without losing the importance of luxury and sophistication. The overall finishing touches were carefully curated pieces sourced from around the globe, making sure that there was individuality and personality to each of the apartments, but equally ensuring they all spoke the same language adhering to the project’s scheme.
