I inherited this little holiday cottage in the woods overlooking Lough Ree on the river Shannon in Ireland a few years ago. It was rather dilapidated and had been unloved for some time but held lots of childhood memories for me and I wanted to create something that was true to those memories and that made more of its unique location. The brief was to create a home from home that we would look forward to going to. It had to be warm and comfortable and contain the creature comforts we were used to in our other home in London. We opened up the space, removing the rather low ceilings to expose rafters and beams. We removed walls to make an open-plan living/cooking/dining area. A small extension added ensuite bathrooms for the two bedrooms. I love mixing the old with the new so antiques and vintage midcentury pieces, reflecting the cottage's sixties origins, were teamed with contemporary pieces, artworks and colourful artist designed fabrics. In 2016, the 'Cabin in the Woods' won the RTÉ television series, 'Home of the Year.'
