The Lacquer Company specialises in handmade lacquer furniture and accessories, bringing Vietnam’s ancient tradition of Son Mai lacquer to contemporary Western designs. Son Mai lacquer has been produced in Vietnam for centuries and is among the world’s finest. The Lacquer Company’s skilled craftsmen honour the Son Mai process through generations of experience. This means that every piece is truly unique, whilst upholding a commitment to the finest Son Mai lacquer. Founded in 2008 by James Lowther, The Lacquer Company started in New York with bespoke orders, followed by collections with renowned designers such as Miles Redd, Rita Konig, Steven Gambrel and Veere Grenney. In addition to the existing collections, The Lacquer Company specialises in bespoke colours, dimensions and entirely custom pieces. Although the focus is lacquer, they also work with many different wood and metal finishes.
