About Us

At Munder-Skiles, you will find nothing superfluous, only honest, pure lines, superb materials and excellent craftsmanship with each piece delivering maximum comfort and years of enjoyment. Munder-Skiles' designs reflect a deep passion for and knowledge of the history of garden furniture. There is no single theme or homogeneous look that defines our furniture. The process of designing and making our furniture relies on historically researched, traditional methods with the most advanced modern techniques. The Arthur Ross Award for Artisanship + Craftsmanship underscores the contribution Munder Skiles has made to furniture design while our ergonomic Taconic Dining Chair crowned the best American Chair by Interior Design Magazine is a testament to our ability to design for both style and comfort.

How would you describe your style?

"The past is our present. The Munder-Skiles aesthetic is rooted in both the history of garden furniture and good design, generally. This approach is expressed through our 18th century Almodington bench, America’s first garden bench, circa 1790. The 19th century is aptly represented in our Gunn collection of chairs and sofas, a design based on archival finds from that era, the Gunn collection is made using the same stainless steel tubing technology as debuted at the Paris Exhibition of 1834. The 20th century is represented by our Art Deco Pierre Chareau-inspired all-weather wicker. While the Arts and Crafts movement is represented by our Kelso collection in teak. As good designs never stops expressing itself, our range also offers designs for those looking for a contemporary look be it in wood, metal or wicker."
