About Us

Founded by Hermione and Ellie Gee in 2020, Hum London is a young interiors brand creating hand-painted lampshades.

Together, the Hum London sisters weave individuality and considered design together with flair and creativity. Their signature collection of cotton lampshades are painted in leopard prints and ginghams, wiggles and stripes. These are suitable for a variety of fittings, from wall lights and lamps to pendants.

Hum London also regularly collaborates with interior designers and takes commissions for bespoke pieces. With quality, beauty and attention to detail being at the heart of the business, the lampshades are made in England before being individually painted by Hermione at their London studio.

How would you describe your style?

"Hum London’s intricate designs are a youthful take on the classic lampshade. Drawing inspiration from their backgrounds in fashion and costume design, the Hum London sisters have designed a collection of lampshades that are both joyful and elegant. Painted in soft, warm colours and patterns, the lampshades can be transformative to a simple space, or equally, work harmoniously with more layered and eclectic interiors."

"An exciting element of the studio’s work is their ability to pull together different elements of a room - such as wallpapers, fabrics and paint colours - and create bespoke lampshades, from custom colourways to totally new designs which are unique to their client’s scheme.

This side of the business has been popular with commercial spaces too, from Edward Bulmer’s Pimlico showroom to a large pair of lampshades decorated with plum leopard print waves, created with Barlow & Barlow for the Daily Dress Edit pop-up."
