Claudia Ludwig Design is full-service interior architecture and design studio based in Hampstead, North London, for both residential and commercial clients. The studio is headed by Claudia who, inspired by the peace and simplicity of her Swiss roots, specialises in warm but calm interiors where her clients can find a luxurious retreat from their busy lives. Claudia is committed to full project management and takes a hands-on approach with great attention to detail.
After graduating from London’s prestigious KLC School of Interior Design, I established my studio in Hampstead, North London. Formerly a successful international lawyer, I have a clear understanding of busy professionals, their needs and time constraints. Any project starts with a detailed 'get to know you' session, to make sure that the client’s aspirations and requirements are fully clarified before embarking on the design process. I work with my clients to find creative and often innovative design solutions that fit within their budget without compromising on style and finishes. Experienced in hands-on project management, I recognise the importance of being involved from the initial planning to construction and the final finishes and paying attention to every little detail along the route. Through excellent communication and total transparency, I develop a meticulous, bespoke design solution for each client, from interior design to custom furniture and joinery, lighting schemes and project coordination. I have long-standing relationships with a team of exceptional builders, carpenters and other craftspeople who work with me on all my projects.

For the total refurbishment of a family home in Hampstead, I blended the practical with the luxurious - a large and bright playroom with intelligent storage for all of the children’s toys, a feature ceiling with colour changing LED lights, magnetic wallpaper featuring a world map to display the children’s art and a tree house for play time and sleep overs. I also designed a lime oak wine cellar with a bespoke whisky decanter light fitting to store the owner’s wine collection and a lavish cinema room with retro cinema chairs and alpine lodge decor. Featuring modern amenities, including underfloor heating, sparkling and hot water taps and automated blinds, the home is also energy efficient, with double glazed sash windows (detailed precisely as the original windows had been to satisfy conservation area requirements) and extra heat and sound insulation.
One of my current (commercial) projects is the redesign of an Italian restaurant to make it more upmarket and contemporary. I am designing a fresh new look with high-end finishes, lighting, joinery and signage, whilst undertaking project management, including tender and construction management. In addition, I have been leading the negotiations with the landlord and achieved the approval of an extension of the footprint of the restaurant as well as all the proposed design changes. The client was immensely pleased with this result: “We can see the value you bring beyond design and management. But the care and consideration you take in the brand and business.”
