About Us

Charlton Brown Architecture & Interiors is an award-winning architecture and interior design practice, operating out of Hampstead since the mid-80s. Practice directors Jo Maudsley and Chris Pask have worked together for over 20 years, and now are part of a team of 25 talented architects and designers with projects across London and the UK. Charlton Brown prides itself on being an expert in their field, with a passion for design and detail. Rather than subscribe to one specific design style, Charlton Brown offers a truly bespoke experience, working closely with clients to ensure that every space is tailored to their needs, reflects the history of the property, and is guided by the principles of exceptional quality, British craftsmanship, timelessness and provenance. The practice is recognised for its work in conservation areas, and its ability to complete painstaking restorations of period and often listed buildings, sensitively transforming them into contemporary homes for the modern homeowner. They also design and procure custom-made furniture items, from chandeliers to sofas, to luxurious office furniture. They have won a number of awards for their work and are regularly featured in prestigious publications.

"No two of our projects are the same. We approach every project with a strong sense of place, extensively researching the home and area to champion a sense of authenticity and belonging, paying homage to the history of the property in question and creating an ongoing legacy for it. At every stage of the design process, we remain on hand to collaborate on ideas and keep our clients constantly involved through the use of sketches, technical drawings and innovative virtual reality technology which allows clients to literally step in and visualise our designs.

We design considered interiors and procure bespoke items from joinery to furniture and lighting. Taking a holistic approach to every project, we offer a complete design service, carefully managing each project from start to finish. Our service is highly personal and adaptable and we work closely with our clients, building strong and ongoing relationships; the majority of our work comes from returning clients or through recommendations.

Recent projects include a country house in Bedfordshire, a luxury family office in Central London and a children’s puppet theatre in Hampstead."
