About Us

Max Rollitt is an interior designer, furniture maker and antique dealer whose sought-after style is grounded in his knowledge of historical architecture and design, but deftly suffused with comfort and a joyful sense of humour.

For Max, interior design starts with the architectural bones of a building; he will always attend to the framework of a room – its flooring, fireplace, cornicing – before turning his attention to fabrics, furnishings and, naturally, antiques.

Well regarded among his peers for having a unique eye for antiques, Max isn’t confined by a particular period or style. Having originally trained as a furniture designer and maker, he delights in the craftsmanship of antiques, but most often it's the character of a piece that will win him over.

And it’s this sense of character that Max instils in the MR Bespoke range of furniture and lighting, too. All handmade and hand-finished in small workshops around the UK, consider them antiques for future generations.

How would you describe your style?

"My style is layered, comfortable and educated.  I create interiors that have wit, integrity and reflect the architecture and history of the house whilst keeping a light touch."

"Constructed in 1675 as a country retreat for a retired naval captain, we were instructed to help the owners of this handsome 17th-century Oxfordshire farmhouse restore, decorate and furnish the interior.  We worked closely with the clients to add richness and colour, sourcing Georgian furniture and antique textiles to give the house an established feel. We kept as many original features as possible including the late 17th century oak staircase, whilst carefully replacing missing parts of the original floors and restoring cornices and chimneypieces."
