About Us

Kathleen Walsh Interiors is an interior design firm based in Brooklyn, New York. The company specializes in tailored, serene interiors that are highly detailed, always sophisticated, and often boast a bit of an edge.

After earning her BFA in Interior Design from Pratt Institute and an MBA in Management from Baruch College, Walsh spent a decade working with some of New York's leading designers and architects on residential and commercial projects, both internationally and throughout the greater New York area. In 2004 Walsh established her own firm, where she is intimately involved in every project.

Walsh won a 2020 LUXE Red Award and was shortlisted for a Cottages & Gardens Innovation in Design Award. Her work has been published in outlets like Architectural Digest, Veranda, House Beautiful, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Robb Report, Financial Times, New England Home, and more.

Kathleen Walsh Interiors projects include primary and secondary residences in the greater New York City area, the Hamptons, New England, and beyond. The team welcomes new clients and is ready to get started on your dream space today.

How would you describe your style?

"Always sophisticated, with a nuanced sense of color and attention to texture. I pull inspiration from both my own travel and experiences, as well as those of my clients. In every design project, whether it is formal or relaxed, I look for elements that show the hand of the maker. I prioritize pieces that are crafted with integrity, appreciate many different aesthetic styles, and always look for a good mix of seemingly disparate items. I strive to honor the perfectly imperfect in every project my team and I complete."

"Imagine you’ve just walked into your newly designed home; every chair and sofa are sized to your liking, your closets are organized according to all of your particulars - including space for the tallest pair of boots and every handbag you own - the kitchen is outfitted in a way that makes perfect sense for the way you and your busy family live, and your dining room table is large enough to accommodate your extended family for holidays, but does not overwhelm the room. There is a well-thought-out system that, to most, will go unnoticed, but to you, is life-changing. You’re home.

The signature Kathleen Walsh Interiors design process ensures this level of thought, detail and care. My team and I are adamant about our three-fold process, which includes a “Discovery Day” of shopping, a gut-reaction color exercise, and Q&A session that deeply examines how you and your family live. This is our foundation and what makes our design-magic stand out from the rest.

My team and I recently finished a five-bedroom, Georgian-style home. We were brought on to redecorate the entire house and create a space that was both family-friendly and always ready for entertaining. Through our initial process, we quickly learned the owners were big fans of bold, vibrant color and a free mix of patterns and styles. Through our bespoke exercise, we understood our clients’ desires. We created a cheerful home using a playful but nuanced mix of furnishings and décor, including custom and off-the-rack items, as well as new and antique pieces. It all works harmoniously to create an energetic flow throughout the home that is uniquely theirs, a perfectly imperfect place to call their own."
