"A chance in a lifetime project! A house described in Pevsner as a perfect Cotswold Baroque house, needed a perfect Baroque garden. I wanted the main garden which looks out on to a long stretch of water and out across the fields beyond, to have classic lines but also to feel almost like a meadow. In went swirling perennials creating almost knot-like parterres across the 16 borders, separated by 16 topiarised hornbeams and two very simple pools. Within the inner courtyard, to create unity, two rills with 16 water spouts, eight down each side are surrounded by plum-coloured Dieramas, agapanthus, perovskias and tall lollipop Ligustrums. Nicholsons Nursery and Practicality Brown provided many of the semi-mature trees and shrubs."
