Alex Rees set up Rugs of Petworth ten years ago, his aim was to bring a fresh approach to an ancient industry focusing on the gap between traditional, heavily patterned rugs and designer contemporary carpets. The shop sells one-of-a-kind, decorative rugs and carpets that are handcrafted by the most reputable producers across the Asian weaving belt. Alex regularly travels to Asia to select each ‘modern classic’ personally and to meet the dealers and skilled artisans, who can spend years designing, weaving and meticulously hand-finishing a single piece.
