About Us
Boura & White was founded by Abi Boura and Katie White to design and make beautiful furniture in the UK. The collection includes Sofas, Chairs, Headboards and Footstools. This exciting partnership brings together the two passionate founders, each with over 25 years' experience in furniture and interiors, who have worked together for the last 11 years since Abi left her role as Style Editor at Elle Decoration.
Drawing on all their experience and obsessiveness, Boura & White has created a core of six sofa designs, each in impeccable taste and handmade in the UK to the highest quality and comfort, available in any fabric. The edit of six designs simplifies the customer journey and each piece can then be tailored for size, augmented with a loose or fixed cover, fitted with pelmet or frill and are available with a choice of legs. Focussing on the core designs ensures the consistency of quality, comfort, and longevity.
"Until now there were two choices. You could go into a crowded showroom and be overwhelmed by the number of different designs, each with different features and comfort levels. The alternative was to go to a hugely expensive bespoke manufacturer, where you pay accordingly. We see things very differently." says Katie.
The limited designs but broad selection of covers and detailing, changes the look and feel of each piece to the individual’s style preferences, from classic to contemporary. Whilst each final piece is unique, the different designs can all live in harmony in a room, appearing curated over the years rather than sourced from the same place.
All Boura & White designs are handmade in the UK using only sustainable resources. Alongside the Sofas and Chairs, there are Footstools, Bed and Headboard collections. The new showroom in Hampshire is on the site of a former flower farm and is remodelled as a house. This beautiful space allows designs to be seen in different room settings which is hugely helpful for customers in visualising how pieces will fit perfectly into their own homes.
"We provide an intelligent and simple design framework to help you choose exactly what works for you, underpinned by outstanding craftsmanship and comfort." commented Abi.
How would you describe your style?
"The Boura & White style is timeless, they create beautiful furniture that can live in contemporary or traditional homes. Each design works beautifully together and the choice of upholstery in loose or fixed allows the look to feel collated over time rather than all sourced from the same place."

"A recent project includes a beautiful bed, The Gretel, designed with Alexandra Tolstoy who was struggling to find the perfect bed for her daughter’s bedroom.
Alexandra was looking for a daybed style as her growing daughter was starting to use the room much more in the day rather than just for sleeping. Working with Alexandra, Abi and Katie understood that as well as being comfortable and functional, the design needed to sit alongside all the treasured furniture and objects remaining in the room.
The Cupola design was inspired by illustrations of fairytales from Kay Nielsen to Ivan Bilibin and is reflected in both the headboard and footboard. This promotes a cosy and enclosed daybed feeling, but combined with the bold striped fabric, it also evokes a feeling of joy and magic.
'I felt comfortable having worked with Abi and Katie before, that they understood exactly what I needed and would be able to create the perfect bed. I have a very happy daughter who loves it'.
Bespoke Service: All Boura & White designs can be made wider, longer, and deeper to fit a designated space.
