About Us

Helene Bowden Design offers bespoke interior design services to residential clients in the London area.  Working in a nuanced and instinctive way, she aims to create authentic interiors with lasting character that truly reflect the people that live in them.  She is a strong believer in sensitivity to overall architectural context so that interiors connect to the buildings that house them.  Helene's role in a project is to develop interiors in a highly collaborative way with her clients, guiding them through the process from start to finish.  Helene works with trusted teams of trade professionals to ensure the best levels of workmanship and successful project delivery.  For larger projects she will work alongside other design and construction professionals.

How would you describe your style?

Helene's style is highly influenced by her childhood: growing up in a Norwegian/Irish family with eclectic tastes, an immersion in art, and a willingness to mix the old with the new. She encourages bravery with colour and pattern and values the emotive force that this brings to any interior space.

Please describe a recently completed project or tell us about the bespoke service that you offer

As a great art lover, I have an appreciation for the way that works can bring to any interior to life. I have developed whole interiors around clients' existing artworks, being inspired by the character and feeling that a particular piece may generate, or conversely I have helped clients select pieces for their home at the end of a project. I always want to make interiors work hard for my clients, and give a lot of thought and consideration to spatial layouts, storage and functionality in the planning phase of any project. I see this as the most fundamental part of an interior designer's value. Bespoke joinery and free standing furniture commissions are also frequently undertaken to answer the specific needs of a client's brief.
