Emma Kirby Design is able to either work as an interior design studio, an architectural design practice or together as a multi-disciplined in-house team. Emma Kirby (interiors) and Michael Ergatoudis (planning and architecture) bring with them years of knowledge. Having built and renovated many of their own homes as well as those of their clients, they know every detail of the process and have formed strong working relationships with many trusted and talented people.
Emma creates beautiful, inspiring and inviting interiors by sourcing and blending the very best of antique, vintage and modern design as well as developing her own bespoke pieces. The layering of texture, colour and lighting deliver perfectly balanced rooms where form and function work seamlessly together giving the client a space in which they can feel comfortable and relaxed.
As well as architectural and interior design experts, Emma Kirby Design has planning consultants who can advise on the best achievable planning outcome for a home or site and the safest strategy to gain permission. The team's planning advice regularly exceeds the hopes and expectations of clients, opening their eyes to new possibilities of what can be achieved.
Finally, Emma Kirby Design can take your project from concept to completion; employing some of the best project managers in the business to expertly oversee each team of builders and contractors. The construction and studio teams work together to manage programme schedules and costs, keeping in close contact with the client so every aspect is clear and transparent.

How would you describe your style?
"Architectural and interior design, planning and construction, from residential homes to private members clubs. At every stage, we listen to our clients and make sure that we go above and beyond to deliver, and often exceed, their expectations. Traditional or contemporary – homely, warm, layered, textured, detailed – to inspire and comfort is behind everything we do."

"When a music producer and his wife bought a huge barn in Worcestershire they were thrilled with the space, land and views, but it left them cold when it came to the layout and interiors. Having worked with the couple on their previous house ten years earlier, we were delighted to partner with them again for this next exciting project. Over the past 18 months we have stripped back the barn and sensitively carried out the restoration of the original brickwork. We then reconfigured and redecorated the building adding a twelve-seat cinema, wine cellar, pool with shepherd’s hut changing rooms, recording studio, office and tennis court. We repositioned the kitchen to make the most of the breathtaking views of the Malvern hills and created a light-filled space for the family to come together for meals as cooking is their passion!
We have turned a cold almost commercial styled house into a warm, inviting home with reclaimed oak flooring, lime wash paint, antique, vintage and bespoke lighting. Layer upon layer of textures using velvet, linen, wool, silk and mohair in earthy colours to unite all the parts of this barn of epic proportions. The bookcases we designed in the library area have been supersized so as not to be dwarfed by the 7m ceiling height and large handmade limestone Fireplaces again designed by us and made in France have added to the grand scale of the building.
Whilst the final touches are still being done, it has been so rewarding to work on this project. Not only because it has been a total pleasure working with the clients again but because it is so exciting to see such a change to a property. We work with only the most talented and dedicated professionals who are passionate about the part each of them has to play in giving a building a new lease of life and people a home that is their favourite place to be."
