The brief was to create a large family kitchen and a layout throughout which flowed. A home with modern comforts but with the impression that nothing had changed in centuries. I met the brief by relocating the kitchen and adding a glass extension, to create a large family kitchen which opened up to the garden beyond with huge glass sliding doors. The property flowed better after the plasterboard partitions creating narrow corridors with too many doors were removed. Modern comforts such as under-floor heating, sound system and data points were added, but the overall feel was one of a relaxed, timeless and inviting home; formed through layering antiques and new furniture, textiles and paintings to create that undecorated look which appears to have evolved over time.
