This ultra contemporary extension, designed by Nicholas Jacob Architects, emerges effortlessly from the 16c Suffolk Farmhouse providing our clients with their brief; the most stunning kitchen, dining and sitting area. The handmade kitchen in bleached Oak, made by Cubitt Theobald Kitchens creates an effective and aesthetically pleasing working space, the large Island being a great focal point. Stunning and innovative lighting by Tom Dixon over the island and dining table hang from the Oak and steel vaulted ceiling. ‘Sky Frame’ sliding windows along one side and around a corner of the sitting and dining areas, give an uninterrupted view of the extensive garden. Electrically operated blinds give privacy at the touch of a button. We had the dining table and side board made by a local craftsman, the bespoke striped and bound rug from Louis de Poorterre, defines the central dining area. The three stunning bronze globe pendant lights above the table give visual impact. In the sitting area we specified a pair of Kingcome sofas in a textured plain linen together with a pair of armchairs in a zesty lime check fabric. The client brief was to have vibrant splashes of colour throughout and geometric design, we added this with scatter cushions in orange and blue velvet and a printed linen with splashes of primary colours. A footstool covered in a grainy orange linen completed the sitting area. We sourced the unusual geometric rug from our London rug supplier.
