Bringing a mix of contemporary vibrancy whilst retaining the traditional bones of the house, we delivered our reputable design style to a country home in Warwickshire to reflect the artistic, fun and daring personalities of the family. Passionate about cooking and entertaining, the kitchen was to be the focal part of the house without it feeling like a typical kitchen. The extension was double height with a glass ridge lantern from which were suspended colour glass pendants over a monolithic island finished in liquid metal with mitred corners to all cupboard and drawer fronts on push catches to be handless. On one side of the island, the cooking area with the oven, semi set into the wall, with a steel shroud separated with a full length glazed panel offering a glimpse into the larder. On the opposite side, the oven and sink area with concrete work tops and wood and brass simple panelled doors with a simple shelf above for vessels and art. The larder is entered via a crittall style door. The back of the steel housing of the oven has a magnetic blackboard. All shelving was in hot rolled steel with a recycled Heineken green glass worktop. The dining room extension is off the kitchen with a stained-glass roof lantern, inspired by The Ivy restaurant. The dining table offers a very simple design with steel legs and a textured white ceramic top. A mix of dining chairs and upholstery leathers were used to soften the space. An existing dresser was modernised by painting it a grape colour and replacing the top with recycled white glass top. The hall and drawing room were cleverly lit using different levels of lighting, modern, eclectic and future collector pieces of furniture. Walls were kept simple as the clients are keen art collectors. The TV in the main room was to be hidden, so a cabinet was designed in a specialist finish with the TV motorised. Flooring to ground floor is a parquet in oak mixed measures from Italy laid in a mix of chevron and straight plank in very rich dark tones. Two modern and fun bathrooms using natural stones and fun fittings.
