These photographs illustrate a small section of the work we undertook in this beautiful property in West London. For this project the client and architect brief stressed simplicity and coherence. Combinations such as bedroom, dressing room and bathroom, or kitchen and lounge, read as one space while succeeding in their own, specific function. Selecting one aesthetic to work across this variety of rooms, spaces, furniture and fittings demanded experience, craftsmanship and vision. Oak veneer was selected as the key, whole house material, with a finish which retains the natural grain of the wood while softening the colour to a paler, more contemporary hue. As with all McCarron & Co work, however, the big beautiful picture is made up of countless subtle brushstrokes. Making everything look this simple is the hardest of crafts. Every McCarron & Co product is custom-made at our workshops in Wiltshire. We place a high value on the traditional skills of our designers, carpenters and cabinet makers. Where technology can enhance or improve on the human eye and hand, we make full use of that too.
