Please describe a recently completed project or tell us about the bespoke service that you offer

"One of our projects has been given a coveted spot on the list of Jane’s favourites. The top-floor apartment of a huge listed building in Kensington required a total overhaul for the London arrival of a client and her family. The brief called for spaces to entertain, bedrooms with strong colour schemes and lots of storage as well as a kitchen suited to the fast pace of London life.

The property has a long hallway lined with windows. Jane designed a nickel architectural detail to go in front of frosted glass for the windows as it looked onto a light well. Large blue and white plates and china vases are displayed on the windowsills, opposite glass Guinevere lamps with blue lamp shades that sit on marble console tables. Wall sconces light the rest of the corridor that opens into a larger hall, decorated in George Spencer blue and white wallpaper.

Off the hallway are two double en-suite bedrooms. The first has a beautiful and relaxing shade of pale periwinkle walling with cream upholstery, floral Roman blinds and coordinating joinery. The second bedroom for a son at school in London needed to be homely- shades of navy with red trim and Guinevere trunks as bedside tables give the room a satisfying symmetry, conducive to good sleep and downtime. 

The main drawing room at the end of the hallway is flooded with natural light. The space is decorated with blue and cream sofas, stone-coloured walls, yellow and green cushions, beige striped curtains and a large watercolour of a sunflower commissioned from Sarah Graham. A dining room leading off the drawing room has built-in bookcases backlit to show off a collection of Imari antique plates, and a dining table with chairs that are covered in burnt orange mohair and backed in patterned silk from Claremont.

 One of the most enjoyable parts of this project was having to find every piece of furniture, lighting and fabrics for the curtains and upholstery! Jane Churchill Interiors offers upholstery to clients existing and new. As a service, it’s beneficial for those who wish to make smaller home changes. For Jane Churchill, no project is too small and even the most minor changes can make a real difference."
