Leroy Street Studio is a dynamic and collaborative architecture studio: we value experiences over objects, open dialogue over ego, authenticity over artifice. We define architecture as a process of restless discovery and collaboration. We define success as a carefully designed space that can be truly felt, lived, and experienced. We are a communal practice—from the artists and makers who surround us every day as colleagues and collaborators, to the clients and communities that we design our work with and for.

Located in a dune field between the beach and a wetland preserve, this upside-down house emerges from the sand with a rough-hewn stone plinth base and glazed upper floors. The public living spaces are situated on the upper level to maximize views of the ocean and wetlands, while the private areas are nestled in the dunescape on the house’s lower level. Emphasizing the views of the surrounding dunes, the entry foyer has been designed as a double height “cut” through the building. The master suite cantilevers over the pool terrace with floor-to-ceiling windows capturing 180-degree headland, pond, and ocean vistas, and the main floor features a cantilevered terrace roof with an unexpected roof aperture that draws the eye skyward. With its detailing and emphasis on natural materials, this modern, yet relaxed home is mindful of its protected site and celebrates the dune-swept landscape on which it sits.
