About Us

Interior designer and creative director of Aucott Interior Design Sonia Mundey has 20 years experience in creating beautiful spaces for a range of sectors, from private clients to show homes for local and national construction companies, HMOs for developers, and hotel refurbishments for major hospitality groups. She is a firm advocate of collaboration and keen to promote the advantages of working alongside architects, builders and developers as early on in a project as possible so that all considerations are met. Enabling fluid communications between all parties ensures a successful development and one which will ultimately exceed the client's expectations.

As a designer, Sonia has access to all manner of talented trades who translate her ideas into reality and can also source all of the necessary FF&E (fixtures, fittings & equipment) including fabrics, floor and wall coverings, lighting, decorative accessories and artwork. She has always had a passion for fine art and studied History of Art. This knowledge enables her to bring insight and sensitivity when working on period properties, ensuring that characterful features are preserved or restored where possible. There will always be a place for well thought-out and beautifully crafted design and working with clients who appreciate this is what continues to bring joy to her work.

How would you describe your style?

"My style is modern country. I love the use of natural materials, such as wool and linen, mixed with robust modern velvets that add colour and interest to a scheme. Incorporating classic pieces of furniture, elegant lighting, practical floor and wall coverings and bespoke works of art are also key."

Please describe a recently completed project or tell us about the bespoke service that you offer

"My most recent project was to design seven guest bedrooms and ensuites for a Dorset wedding venue. Set in a Georgian house still lived in by the family, the brief was to provide individually designed bedrooms for wedding guests which were robust enough for hospitality use but also in keeping with the elegant proportions of the property. Incorporating much of the client's existing antique furniture I supplied bespoke windows treatments and soft furnishings, wall coverings, lighting, and artwork."
