Lisa Burdus has spent the last 20 years making a name for herself in the Australian design industry. Her designs have appeared in Australian House & Garden, Country Style and Home Beautiful magazines. Featured in House & Garden Australia’s Top 50 Rooms Awards she won the category for Best Use of Soft Furnishings in 2017. A former television producer, Lisa decided to follow her passion for interiors in 1999, when her children were young. It was while training at ISCD in Sydney, Australia that she launched her interiors business.
Lisa Burdus Design & Decoration focuses on full-service residential projects and boutique commercial spaces. Blending traditional charm with modern-day sensibility, Lisa creates distinct, innovative design solutions that are warm and textured – stretching the parameters for those who favour a classic style. Each interior is a spontaneous and adventurous masterpiece, embracing spatial planning and indulgent detail through scale, texture, colour and pattern. Travelling regularly to source unique one-off items, Lisa is proud to use artisans who are masters of their trade. Having raised five children, she knows well that it’s possible to have a beautiful and practical home that everyone, including the dog, enjoys being in.

How would you describe your style?
"Predominantly traditional, with lots of pattern and colour. Layered interiors that not only look good but feel warm and welcoming – places people love to be in but can’t pinpoint why. It’s about the ‘feel’, about bringing soul to a room by mixing old and new in furniture, fabrics, art, lighting and objects. Repurposing wherever possible, choosing items for their quality, function or their significance to the owner. To add to the charm and distinctiveness, drawing from the beautiful objects collected on travels – and from clever people who are true artisans in what they make and do."

"This project is a 1920s home on the leafy North Shore of Sydney. The clients raised their family here but wanted to give it a new lease of life whilst keeping many of the traditional elements. We have renovated and redecorated this four-bedroom home so it can be enjoyed by the next generation as well as friends and the owners all year round."
