About Us

Katie is the founder of homeware brand ‘Katie Cardew’, established in 2013. To date the brand has over 120 independent stockists and two of their own stores, stocking exclusively Katie Cardew designed British made homeware. They have enjoyed many successes including an award-winning retail stand at the Chelsea Flower Show. With a competent team running the ‘Katie Cardew’ brand, Katie’s integral interest in interior design came to the forefront in 2022 when she launched her interior design services, ‘Homes by Katie Cardew’. Her style is soulful, colourful and characterful and, as a mother of two herself, Katie excels in creating homes that not only look beautiful, but also stand up to busy family lives. Katie believes any home, new or old, should exude warmth and soul and her homely creations are achieved using layered colours, textures and mixing antique and reclaimed items in with the new. As a one-man band, Katie prides herself on providing a hands-on, personal and friendly service.

"Alongside client projects, I have been working on our own home renovation; a 17th Century ironstone home in the heart of Rutland. The process has been challenging but incredibly satisfying and has involved dragging our home out of its dusty 1960’s décor and into the 21st century. Out went the Formica kitchen and swathes of turquoise taffeta curtains and in came months (and months…) of hard work! But we are delighted to have finally completed several rooms, including the kitchen, dining room and two bedrooms. I have ensured the rooms have all retained original features, including a huge range beam and meat hooks in the kitchen, beautiful bay window in our children’s room and original stripped back cupboard doors in the dining room. At the heart of each room is comfort and joy, brought out with colours, textures and little unexpected features, such as a lovely bright red scalloped cornice in the children’s bedroom. Each room combines the old with the new; an Edwardian wardrobe next to a modern painting, a 19th century brass trivet on a custom made marble Dairy table or a disco style hung above a centuries old Rectory table in the dining room. It is Katie’s firm belief that rooms deserve the upmost attention when being decorated, for the rooms create your home and your home is where you deserve to be at your most content."
