Berkeley Place is a unique construction company specialising in residential renovation and enhancement projects of the highest quality. They operate throughout Bristol, Bath and the Cotswolds, with selected projects in London and south Devon. Their projects usually involve the refurbishment of listed and period properties, where they guide clients from pre-purchase advice through the entire renovation and enhancement process; including pre-purchase feasibility and concept, planning, phasing and delivery, to occupation. Berkeley Place offers a highly personalised service and the team prides themselves in developing strong and trusted relationships. How would you describe your style?

"Most of the work we undertake involves the renovation and enhancement of wonderful listed and period properties - mainly Georgian, so there is an abundance of period elegance built into our work. Restoring and remodelling this type of property means there is lots of symmetry and proportion-based architecture to work around; our style usually reflects our need to integrate this historical detailing with contemporary and mid-century fixtures and fittings, appropriate for modern living."

Please describe a recently completed project or tell us about the bespoke service that you offer

"We successfully completed a fine Grade II* listed property recently, in one of Clifton's splendid Georgian terraces. No2 The Polygon spans five floors and required a major renovation, both internally and externally. Every aspect of the property was impacted while being gutted and stripped back to structure, then rebuilt to its original exacting architectural standards and finishes, including new sash windows, solid timber floors, ornate cornicing, plaster and render work, bespoke joinery, fixtures and fittings. Working with a client who lived overseas added real excitement because in addition to the communication challenges, some exceptional international furniture and artwork was imported and incorporated within the finished project. When our clients reside overseas and site visits are irregular, our ability to listen, interpret and provide robust and timely advise needs to be seamless. We have developed great systems and processes, and a substantial and bespoke supply chain of advisors, designers, specialist fabricators and supply and installation teams. Our heritage and historical building design awareness is significant, since we have successfully completed over 250 renovation projects, where we have captured substantial data. We record cost data for all aspects of period property renovation, so we can provide prompt and robust budgeting and programming advice at the earliest stages of a potential project, often prior to property purchase and any discussions with planning and conservation teams, where we can add significant lifestyle and monetary value. Our clients regularly tell us they wish they had met Berkeley Place sooner, and we find leading property experts such as Savills, Knight Frank and Strutt and Parker regularly recommend our services locally to prospective purchasers.
