Our brief for this listed London property was to create beautiful, bespoke pieces of furniture that would make a grand interior cosy and inviting. It was important to our client, Studio Indigo, that furnishings should be unique to the home and utilise the elegant, luxury finishes for which we are known, such as black-lip oyster shell for the dining-room cabinet, parchment for the dressing-room finishes and straw marquetry for a console table. Our niche in the design world is to create exciting new designs from opulent surfaces that require exceptional skill and craftsmanship to handle successfully: shagreen, cracked eggshell, mica and shell finishes such as mother-of-pearl are a few more examples. In this property, this type of glamorous finish allowed us to rise to the client’s challenge to provide museum-quality pieces that wouldn’t be overshadowed by a strong architectural space.
The List features design professionals, searchable by area, name and specialism. Membership starts at £450 per year, including a subscription to House & Garden (UK only)
