About Us

Founded in 1979 by Bernard Shapero, Shapero Rare Books is an internationally renowned dealer in antiquarian & rare books and works on paper. The only bookshop on Bond Street, our specialists have over 250 years of experience in between them, with particular expertise in fine illustrated books from the 15th to the 20th century, travel & voyages, natural history, modern firsts, rare children’s books, guidebooks, Hebraica & Judaica, works of Russian interest, and Islamica. 

Our PostWar & Contemporary gallery Shapero Modern, set up in 2014, focuses on modern & contemporary prints, multiples and works of art, curating several shows annually on topical themes at their Maddox Street gallery. We also specialise in historical prints, watercolours and original works of art across a broad range of subjects, from antique architectural and natural history prints to modern pochoir plates, as well as photographs from vintage to modern art.
