The brief was to refurbish a 2,200-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom duplex apartment on the second and third floors of The Bromptons in Fulham Road, including interior architecture, interior design and project management. The space is arranged with the entertaining areas on the lower floor and the sleeping quarters on the upper floor. A sweeping staircase allows for a grand yet graceful division between the entertainment and sleeping areas, which are all set against a backdrop of high ceilings, oversize gothic cornicing and limestone fireplaces. The brief was to transform the existing apartment into a secondary residence for the client. Marrying the exquisite architectural detail with the interior architecture of the apartment, it also needed to be up to date in terms of technology, while clearly reflecting the personality of the client, to ensure a space that felt unequivocally like a home away from home. The design was brought together harmoniously by a number of elements inspired by the architectural features of the interior and exterior.
