Katie McCrum Studio is a London-based design practice offering interior architecture and design with a unique focus on elegant, timeless interiors with a twist, that inspire and tell a story. The studio is small by design because relationships are at the heart of its creative process. Katie and her team work closely with their clients, taking the time to listen and understand what matters most to them.
Since its formation in 2003 the studio has been delivering a broad range of creative projects for private homeowners and select developers in London and further afield. The results speak for themselves with a portfolio of successful projects and a list of happy clients who confidently recommend Katie to their friends and network. Working on private spaces that are also substantial investments means the team communicate frequently with their clients and are transparent in their working to reassure and to guide. Katie's service guides clients through each stage of the creative process and follows the RIBA Plan of Work including assessing the financial aspects of their project, deciding what they would like to achieve at all stages through to an exceptional quality resolution.

"Commissioned to work on an impressive Edwardian mansion block apartment, we completely reconfigured the overall space to enhance natural light flow through the property, maximise the high ceilings and fully meet our client’s needs. We seduced it back to its original era with wall panelling and classical details throughout adding a timeless quality to the design. The concept was a fusion of 21st century British contemporary style and historical Parisian chic created around a muted colour palette and using luxury materials and furniture pieces. The result was a tranquil haven, classic and contemporary in style.
We also recently worked on a Lakehouse in the Cotswolds which was a true blend of styles. Minimal Japanese and Bohemian craft styles are balanced with understated luxury and playfulness. Embracing principles of Wabi Sabi such as asymmetry, roughness and imperfection, the space feels grounded and connected to its rustic surroundings.
Rooted in nature, earthy colour tones were layered with natural textures such as banana fibre, Japanese paper, hand-sculpted terracotta, woven bamboo, burnt wood and hand-painted linens. Traditional processes and artisans were celebrated, every piece has a story. From the tadelakt-lined walls and curves in the hammam style master bathroom to the green beaten ceiling beams added in the snug to recreate the look of an old Parisian ceiling. The coffee table is made from Georgian river stones, the armchair in the master bedroom is hand finished with marble by a Moroccan artist and finishing details such as embroidered soft furnishings and abstract ceramics are handmade locally."
