How would you describe your style?
"We have no set style, approaching each project with an open mind, but we like to create layered interiors that are comfortable and tactile, connected to the time in which they were built, and to their tradition and status. Most of our work is for historic homes, spanning all periods of British history, or for classical new build properties, and we understand how to enhance period character through the use of appropriate form, texture and colour."
Please describe a recently completed project or tell us about the bespoke service that you offer
"Our work on historic interiors frequently requires us to create bespoke elements, and high-quality craftsmanship is essential to our ability to offer clients a unique service. On a recent Grade I house project, we designed much bespoke joinery, including splicing 19th-century kitchen cabinets seamlessly into new ones, copying original detailing and adding elements to enhance functionality, such as handsome custom-made copper cooker hoods and a sizeable oak and steel pan rack and hanging rail. Bespoke lighting designs have included a“rise and fall” brass snooker table light with shades made from antique hand-dyed French linen sheets, and light switch plates sympathetic to historical interiors. We ensure bespoke curtains, based on historical precedents, fit complex window geometries, and many elements including fabrics, trimmings, wallpaper, tiling and carpets are precisely tailored to each scheme. Wallpaper conservator Allyson McDermott recently copied a very important fragment of mid-18th century wallpaper to create a stunning new paper to rehang in the house where it was discovered, highlighting the lengths to which we will go to fulfil and exceed clients’ expectations."
