A long-time client returned to Sonnaz with several requirements which we were confident we could deliver on. She had recently moved into a new larger house that had been stunningly re-painted and wallpapered. She brought us several pieces of upholstered furniture from her previous house, including a precious chair inherited from her great-grandfather. To add to these beautiful pieces, we were presented with the interlined curtains from the previous house. She wasn't sure where to start, with upholstered furniture or with new window treatments. We spoke at length about her ideas and thoughts on how she wanted to use the downstairs, and what vision she had for the styling. Having sourced fabrics for both the upholstery and curtaining, we guided her on the finer details of piping and trimmings. Because of our ideas and enthusiasm, we were delighted to be asked to recover a two-seater Knoll Sofa and restore great-grandfathers chair. Using traditional upholstery and restoration techniques, and by reusing the curtain fabric from the previous house for a window seat cushion, we exceeded her expectations. Thermal interlined double pinch pleat curtains in a fabric that tied all the elements of the room together completed the project on time and within budget. We finished the room by making a bespoke, slightly oversized, armchair in order that our client could snuggle comfortably into it to read or relax. The scale of the chair was inspired by the large Knoll sofa in the same room.
