About Us

Coban rugs and runners are woven by hand from natural goats wool on traditional looms using handspun yarn. The individually designed rugs combine traditional weaving skills with a contemporary aesthetic. The muted colours of the undyed wool are in shades of black, white, brown and grey. Subtle shifts in shade add to the aesthetic. The intrinsic qualities of the material make these rugs low maintenance and hard-wearing, allowing them to age beautifully.

The rugs feature stripes in a variety of stitches, combined with panels and borders in contrasting shades and colours. Plain rugs have an aesthetic of their own, as well as providing a canvas for the stitched artwork in geometric and other abstract forms. The end result is a celebration of the unique qualities and texture of the natural material, the artist's signature designs and the intricacies of the weaving techniques. The effect is a striking yet harmonious blend of design and process, using a natural palette.
