About Us

Blending a love of India with her eye for interior design, Zara Bolingbroke-Kent is bringing the delights of Flat weave rugs (Dhurries) and hand knotted rugs to discerning clients across the UK and further afield. She has also designed a colourful Mughal inspired fabric collection. Zara now aims to bring a contemporary twist to the traditional designs from centuries ago, by working with colour, new designs and stunning metallic threads.

How would you describe your style?

Nothing I design ever matches and pretty much everything clashes! I love mixing colours and designs and the more layers, the more interesting and soulful the project is. There are no rules in the decorating world and it is all about creating a look that is fun, quirky and unique. It is the imperfections and the surprise contradictions that achieve the best results. Your home should be a true reflection of who you are and the way you live. You have to be confident in your decisions and develop your own sense of style. When working with a client, I always start off by working with some object, whether it be a painting or a rug. It might be something as simple as a vase that has been passed down from generation to generation. I love mixing ticking stripes with florals, geometrics and maybe adding in some antique cushions.

Please describe a recently completed project or tell us about the bespoke service that you offer

We offer a bespoke service for our clients working closely with them to design their own rugs. We also offer a full interior decorating service, specialising in fabrics, rugs and advising clients on colours. One of our most recent projects was working at Holkham Hall in Norfolk, an 18th century Palladian house. We worked with the client to bring the house into the 21st century whilst still incorporating the history and many objects from the past.
