"We’ve recently worked on a number of rooms in a Grade II listed Georgian villa in Islington. The client's main priority was their north-facing living room, which had been unused for a number of years. The space was dark and damp with very low ceilings but was blessed with a magnificent large bay window and the original wooden shutters. After the extensive damp proofing treatment, we installed new lighting throughout the room to create a much lighter and warmer space. Namely, up and down wall lights that washed the walls with a warm glow, a flushed low profile drum pendant and a couple of table lamps for each alcove. We’ve also replaced the old, but not original, large fireplace which was too imposing for the size of the room. In its place a smaller and much more to scale fireplace has been installed. The walls and ceiling have been painted in warm 'White Tie' and woodwork in 'Wimborne White' both by Farrow and Ball. The effect is a warm and inviting cocoon in which to sit and relax. The room was softened and warmed even further with thick wool oatmeal carpet and furnishings in deep burnt orange."
