About Us

Too many of us spend our time working around the constraints of homes designed for another era or way of life. My mission is to transform living spaces so they work for my clients now and in the future.

Achieving this takes creativity and technical expertise combined with unique almost 'psychic' insights. First, I immerse myself in your living space and get to understand your priorities, tastes and how you live. Then my imagination goes to work, producing ‘innocent’ sketches. This is the fun part, as it engages my clients, and produces the best design solutions – often never envisaged at the outset.

I graduated with a Higher National Diploma in Building Studies and a Diploma of Architecture at Greenwich University in 2002. Still in the Royal Borough, my practice is on the south bank of the Thames in Wharf Street. All told, I’ve worked in the construction industry for over 30 years, so I know the processes (and pitfalls) – from planning, through procurement, to contracting – as well as the finer points of building design.

That’s one of the reasons I volunteer to represent my profession at the Home Building and Design Shows. I understand that remodelling or building your dream home is a huge investment – and at risk, if not approached properly. Even in a brief 'Ask the Expert' ‘speed designing’ session, I can show people there are many creative ways to transform living spaces, while managing projects to ensure high quality and value for money.

I also try to bring a boutique hotel’s sense of sanctuary and style into your home. That reflects my work for high-end hotels, but also my other design passion, as I restore and exhibit classic cars around the world, with current projects that include a Rolls Royce and a Citroen 2CV that I own, a rare replica of the yellow 007 model from 1981’s For Your Eyes Only film, seen on numerous 'Youtube' channels.

How would you describe your style?

"A personable wrap-around service offering a creative and comprehensive service, handling everything from design, the design team securing planning, building control approval, party wall awards, the health and safety requirements, structural engineered solutions, contract administration through to completion of a project, so I can control the cost and quality for and on behalf of my trusted client's. It’s like putting my arms around a client's project saving them worry, time and money by ensuring the best possible outcome."

"I was approached by a couple who had recently just bought a property through an auction, who had met many years previous but had never lived together, so decided that they now wanted to share their lives in a period property in leafy south London. They had wanted a local architect, that also shared their passion for period properties and designs of the 1920s through to the 1950s and loved the idea of introducing into the home their favourite holiday destination - 'Palm Springs' in the US!  Just the name excited my clients and there began our journey working together to include a daily inspirational outlook on life - for one of the client's was a nurse working on several Covid wards and coming home was to mean so much more than we can ever be granted for.

The property a mid-terrace, built within the early 1950s had not structurally been altered or added to reveal its original building fabric and characteristics that attracted my client's. I remember discussing the project with them on a very cold bleak wet wintry November night, which was at first difficult to see, as most of the electric light bulbs had been removed or blown. It was during our first meeting, I simply asked them, "where was your last holiday"? and from that conversation, I was commissioned to design not only a single storey rear extension, but also the garden space, the conversion of the loft space and design the kitchen, oh and help with the design of their new all-important sunburst-ray of sunshine front door, that certainly has provided that welcoming home feeling!

I was commissioned to take on the whole project to extend and convert the existing loft space into a home office, design the kitchen, furniture and design the garden (hard-landscaping) taking the project through all the RIBA stages of work to design, manage and handover, dealing with the contractor, issuing instructions and certifying payments. This enabled the client's to leave the project within my capable hands.
