About Us

Having been in the soft furnishing industry for nearly 40 years, Teresa Wood, founder of Loose Covers, has spent the last 25 years transforming well-loved furniture so that it can once again be the centre piece of the room. She enjoys the sculptural and engineering aspects of making loose covers, and the challenge of deciding how to make the new covers maintain the character of the furniture, whilst meeting the clients’ expectations. If your furniture is structurally sound, it fits your space, and you like it, having a loose cover can be a practical alternative to re-upholstery or replacement. Engaging with both interior designers and private clients, Teresa works in London, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, West Sussex and Middlesex.

'People are often surprised that ‘Loose Covers’ can be made for such a vast range of furniture, and the different finishes that can be achieved. Whilst the relaxed fit of a traditional loose cover has its place, a loose cover can be made to fit so snugly that my work is often mistaken for upholstery, or so casually that it sits effortlessly and quietly in its environment. All covers are cut in situ, so furniture does not have to be removed from site. Each cover is cut on the furniture, right side out and complete so any difference in past wear of the furniture is mitigated. I can supply new cushion interiors in a range of fillings to suit every comfort level and design. Clients are free to supply their own fabrics, and I am happy to advise on the suitability of fabric if required.'
