How would you describe your style?

My father is an historian and I grew up surrounded by history and his collection of antiquities. I love old objects and the stories behind them.

Images 1-4: Contemporary Country House - We recently completed the interior architecture and design of a 25,000 sq ft new build country house in North Yorkshire. The six bedroom house has a ¾ circular design with a basement and a garage that includes a full turning circle. It sits on four acres and took two years to build. The brief was to create a luxurious yet comfortable family home, which can also accommodate grand entertaining. In addition to furnishings and wall coverings Mark handled all the interior architecture: the entrance layouts; bathrooms; ceiling mouldings; door frames; stonework; cabinetry and swimming pool surround. Mark was asked to assist with the AV systems in addition to the purchase of all artwork, decorative items and accessories. All furniture, rugs and cabinetry were bespoke to cope with the circular design. The design has a distinct international flavour, with a French, Italian and British feel. Images 5-7: Grade I Stately Home - Burley on the Hill is a 17th century Grade I listed country house inspired by Sir Christopher Wren. The current owners purchased the South Wing in 2008, which comprises 4,500 sq ft over four floors, including an Adams state room, and panoramic views of Rutland Water. They wanted a complete renovation of the property, bringing it into the 21st century, but also restoring the principal rooms to their original splendour. The owners entrusted Mark to choose nearly every detail, from sourcing major pieces of artwork to designing the house’s signature stationery. The Adams room is the centrepiece of the home. Inspired by the blue and white classical Wedgwood relief, Mark has created a supremely impressive, yet fresh and inviting drawing room.
