"Project overview: Georgian Townhouse

Henry Prideaux Interior Design was commissioned to completely re-imagine the living space and design a sympathetic scheme for this end-of-terrace Grade II Listed three-bedroom Georgian townhouse in Southwark, for his client, a lawyer who lives in the country and needed a base when working in London. The design includes architectural details specifically selected to complement the period of the building, replacing those lost in previous refurbishments.

The interior has been beautifully updated creating a more modern residence within a comfortable arrangement that reflects the client’s lifestyle. Henry and the wider project team worked closely with the local council and Heritage consultants throughout the project to increase the heritage gain whilst also providing the client with a suitable layout and use of space. The reception space on the ground floor has been designed with simple Georgian style panelling within a skillfully understated yet impactful scheme that features a range of bespoke furniture and striking decorative lighting. A kitchen painted in a dark aubergine leads onto a triangular decked garden with yellow walls and a range of potted plants and shrubs to create a vibrant outdoor living space. The first floor features simple Georgian style panelling to enhance the walls and custom fitted joinery in the restful master bedroom, and a generously proportioned bathroom with a large walk-in shower, Thomas Crapper loo, and bespoke washbasin and vanity. Two bedrooms on the top floor have been cleverly combined to create a large study with a raised butterfly ceiling to enhance the light and sense of space. An existing cellar has been increased and reconfigured to allow for the installation of a guest WC, utilities, bicycle storage and gym space."
